Regulate to De-financialise the Economy
Regulate to De-financialise the Economy Implement measures to regulate or remove risky and complex financial instruments. Split banks into full reserve retail banks and other institutions (without any implicit government guarantee). Legislate the maximum profit of a retail bank. (a populist measure that might not be practical). Legislate the maximum size of a bank by some measure.

Alan Barraclough commented 2016-11-29 21:29:27 +1300this is so important. Banks in the business of speculative instruments should mot e able to call themselves savings banks. their net risk is higher than shares in conservative companies. A forced split or name change is important. It needs to be clear to d people as to net risk to their savings
