  • 2020 General Election Advance Voting Period

    Saturday, October 03, 2020 at 12:00 AM through October 17, 2020

    Voting starts two weeks before election day and ends at 7pm on election day, so you've got plenty of time to vote. On election day, voting places are open from 9am to 7pm.

    If you want to vote before election day, the opening hours might be different. Check this page closer to election time for the opening hours of voting places near you.

    The 2020 General Election will be held on Saturday 17th October along with the cannabis and end of life choice referendums.

    You need to be enrolled to vote in the election and referendums.

    To enrol and vote, you need to be 18 years or older, have lived in New Zealand for more than one year continuously at some time, and be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.
