TOP Talk Wellington
Stand by TOP Wellington for the next TOP Talk, on Monday 11 November, from 5.30 pm with talk starting at 6 pm.
TOP’s very own Campaign Manager, Iain Lees-Galloway, on electoral reform.
In 2013, Iain’s private member’s bill to reduce the party vote threshold from 5% to 3%, as recommended by the Electoral Commission in 2011, was drawn from the ballot. It was never passed.
What happened? And what motivated him to do it, a Labour MP of five years’ standing? How did the major parties react? What killed it?
If you have always wondered why the party vote threshold is stuck at 5%, why the Electoral Commission’s recommendations were completely ignored, or what it’s really like to make law that makes a difference, this talk is for you.
Join us at the Southern Cross Bar and Restaurant (down the back in The Porch - look for the teal TOP banner), from 5.30 pm on Monday 11 November to hear the whole story.
At the end of the evening, Peter Tait will give some detail on the party's new organisational structure.
Talk starts 6 pm. Platters of nibbles at 6.15 pm. Plenty of time available to ask questions.
