I agree with almost all I read in this policy but would like to see in addition, emphasis on solar power. i have just spen 2months in England and saw so many 'solar farms' along with a huge p roportioj of privately installed solar panels on house rooftops, I felt so ashamed the my country with far higher hours of sunshine, hs placed so little impoance on this source of power

I want to see New Zealand's Government Kiwi Rail Fully Electrified on it's Main Trunk Railway Line's in both the North and South Islands. As once TIWA Aluminum Smelter Closes down it's NZ Production Plant Then there will be a Huge Power Generation Source sitting ideal at Manupouri .
I want to see these New Electric Locomotive's and any New Diesel Locomotive's to be Built in New Zealand by NZ Engineering Firm's likes of A&G Price of Thames ! NZ's Kiwi Rail has also plans to Build 3000 more New Container Wagon's Over Next 10 Years, Hillside Workshop's NEEDS to be restarted so this can be done in NZ !
This National Government was talking with Kiwi Rail about Building these Wagon's and $300million Dollars was put aside for this 4-5 Years ago . This information was on Kiwi Rail's website back then !
    Cheers Karl Barkley

I'd like to see more incentives on renewables, and more development in this area - a carrot rather than stick strategy. Another approach might be making efficient heating / cooling systems, insulation etc. tax free.

Current ETS is not leading to any substantive CO2 reductions from NZ sources. It needs to be scrapped in favour of a simple adjustable carbon tax or totally revamped so that it does lead to measurable emissions reductions.

Just make sure that cycleways policies are safe cycleways.
Also, I would love to add something related to unlicensed light electric vehicles and recumbent bikes, but no time for that. I would love to talk with someone from TOP about that.

Dont need to be a scientist to realise there is something draastically wrong with our planet, that the human race can take full responsibility. The nay sayer politicians and their cronies need to be made accountable and dismissed/sacked/fired/expelled.

It way past time that we (all New Zealanders) got on with it!
An eminently sensible & practical approach towards meeting our obligations to the next generation and rest of the world.
