Sham Panchacharan pledged support 2017-07-16 20:35:38 +1200Whilst I support the policy I am unsure with having Te Reo a compulsory subject when its not commonly or widely spoken. It has to be an option. An alternative is to also make it compulsory to study one's mother tongue(ie in Singapore) this way multiculturalism can be maintained. In an increasingly multi cultural new Zealand there's no place for compulsory Te Reo I believe

Leonie Parker pledged support 2017-06-07 13:22:35 +1200I like this thinking but would also like to see more emphasis on responsibilities along with the rights. As a social worker I am daily dealing with people in their 20's and 30's who assume the state will always provide them with income support in one way or another. They have no thought whatsoever of any form of contribution on their part. This excepts the children they so often heedlessly include in the equation without consideration for either the future of those kids, or of their own. Where do they think the support will come from if they are not part of contributing to it?
