Okay. So you don't like our health policy. What would you suggest?
First of all - what is junk food ? How are you going to define it ? This will end up a tax on the poor - just like cigarettes...On most other policies you address the issue of how you will spend money better but your health policy seems only to be about raising more money from taxation not refining the priorities for health spending. Also as a society we need to address end-of-life issues for the ageing.... By the way having lived in Denmark for 5 years - every day the papers complain about waiting lists and discontent is just as high as here....There is very little difference in public perception of how the health system performs there.
Deal with the problems that people experience right now. Investment in distant returns is of no benefit to people who have problems in the here and now. Higher taxes are needed to fund more of what is needed. Since you admire Scandinavian societies why not imitate their approach to health and welfare. Saying it is unaffordable is an ideological cop out.
