It's more of a tidy up action but with computers and the Internet there's no reason that individual guns shouldn't be licenced. Firearms owners should be licenced and so should the firearms. Firearms should be then be registered to their owners. It used to be that the guns were tracked. It brings them back in line with cars (cars ownership is tracked and drivers are licenced). NZ has good gun laws and a society that is relatively safe from gun violence as a result. Let's keep it that way.
