Defection of ALCP President Abe Gray to The Opportunities Party (TOP)
The President of the Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Abe Gray has resigned his office to join The Opportunities Party (TOP).
The Opportunities Party (TOP) founder and leader Dr Gareth Morgan has responded positively to Mr Gray's resignation.
"While we are not a single issue party it is heartening to see a senior member of the ALCP join many other experts and members of the public in endorsing TOP's Real Deal Cannabis reform".
"With our membership now in excess of 3000 we welcome all New Zealanders who recognise the urgent need for evidence based policies to solve the myriad of problems created by timid establishment parties".

Sandy Mulqueen commented 2017-06-07 12:09:03 +1200Actually ALCP was never a single issue party because cannabis is not a single use plant.
It’s frankly immoral to prohibit people from using the marvellous cannabis/hemp plant to it’s fullest potential for health and industry, and it doesn’t make good economic sense, either.
Any party that makes a priority of reforming cannabis laws to reflect this reality deserves to be promoted to friends and family.
To show that our faith is not misplaced, you could state that the Real Deal Cannabis policy is a non-negotiable coalition condition. Properly promoted this is a massive vote winner.
