Dr. Benjamin Peters is passionate about science, philosophy, and how combining the two can change New Zealand for the better. Having received his PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Otago, he is an awarded researcher and currently works at the University of Otago as a Professional Practice Fellow. As a dedicated member of TOP, he worked on the science policy panel to create the party's GE policy, with an eye to marrying science and sustainability.
Growing up Ben moved with his family around the North Island before settling in rural Canterbury and eventually moving to Dunedin for study (and love). This frequent moving around (11 houses, 5 towns and cities, 29 years) as well as currently serving on the board of his local church gives Ben an appreciation for people from all different walks of life, and of how important and impacting the TOP response to the current housing crisis would be across the country. Ben lives in Dunedin with his wife of eight years and their two small children and is committed to strengthening and serving his community.
