Dr Ben Peters for Dunedin

Dr Ben Peters is a dedicated member of The Opportunities Party (TOP) running in Dunedin. With a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Otago, Ben is an awarded researcher committed to using his expertise to improve the country. Ben plays a crucial role in developing many of TOP’s environmental and climate resilience policies that require a deep understanding of science, sustainability, and health.

Growing up, Ben had the opportunity to experience different parts of New Zealand, living in several cities across the North Island and rural Canterbury before settling in Dunedin. This experience has given him a unique perspective on the country and its diverse communities. As a result, Ben is dedicated to addressing the cost of living crisis and ensuring that TOP's response will positively impact New Zealanders from all walks of life.

Alongside his work as a teaching fellow at the University of Otago and his commitment to TOP, Ben is an active member of his community. He serves on the board of his local church and the Mornington School board, where he has held policy and finance positions. With a wife of eleven years and two young children, Ben is deeply rooted in Dunedin and is dedicated to strengthening and serving his community.

He is passionate about science, education, and the future of Aotearoa New Zealand, and dedicated to addressing the cost of living crisis. Ben has a strong sense of integrity and a deep commitment to making a positive impact for his fellow Kiwis.
