Do people realise just how far we can move forward on our international commitments under the Paris agreement by undertaking to get rid of the incandescent light bulb? about 10 percent reduction in domestic electricity consumption. Enough to close huntly. Even the environmental laggard Australia has banned the incandescent bulb . Australians dont even notice they have gone. I know you say let the market decide. Fine but the true enormous cost and danger of CO2 emmissions needs building into the bulb price . You can build it into the electricity price but then electricity is an essential for everyone. Renters cant make capital investment to reduce electricity consumption. If you like landlords must hand over residential accomodation with 100 percent LED fittings and bulbs.

Leave it to the market. If high quality, reliable and cost effective LED bulbs are produced, people will buy them.

Perhaps I don’t like the quality of LED bulbs or have light fittings that aren’t compatible. Please don’t remove my choice if I’m willing to pay for it.

Hi Hadley. Agreed .. those are heat lamps for the purpose of heat. I should have qualified my suggestion. I am talking about domestic and industrial lighting.. if you keep heat lamps.. they are not really sized for domestic light fittings so that is fine to keep them

Would make it difficult for people to make a cheap heat lamp for chickens.
