No need to abolish them. The IRD already have the means to “look through” to beneficial ownership or trust deed beneficiaries. IRD just need to be empowered to sort the rorts. There are legitimate reasons for trusts and closely held companies so we don’t need to take these away.

Love the idea. This is part of a much larger tax reform to get everyone to pay their fair share with no loop holes

You don’t have to abolish them, you just need to consider a transparent means of taxing them according to the asset values and/or revenues they generate.

Agree with the cracking down on tax avoidance as a means to a fairer society, I would also include all charities, too many organisations whose idea of charity is to advance their own agenda.

We really need to ensure proper tax is paid by individuals and companies, including multinationals if we want the revenue to tackle other issues.
